ON STAGE (THE ABRAHAM WASHINGTON SHOW)
Abraham Washington & Tony Atlas + Sheamus + Shelton Benjamin: Tony Atlas introduced the host of the Abraham Washington Show, Abraham Washington – doing his best Ed McMahon impersonation “heeeeeere’s AB!” Washington came out and did his opening schtick as the big screen flashed “APPLAUSE.” Seriously, this gimmick is starting to smell a little too Adamle if you ask me. Tony Atlas laughed at all the jokes, even the bad ones (they were all bad). Washington introduced tonight’s guest, Sheamus. Washington blocked his eyes and put on sun glasses, saying that it just got a whole lot whiter around there. Sheamus said it was an honor to be on the set of Sanford and Son. Washington asked Sheamus about his developing feud with Shelton Benjamin. Sheamus said two weeks ago he put a lot of hard work into their tag match, only to have Benjamin steal his victory. Atlas started to laugh and Washington asked him what was so funny. Atlas said Sheamus sounded like the Lucky Charm’s Leprecaun. Washington said last week Sheamus eliminated Benjamin from the Battle Royal even after he himself was already eliminated. Sheamus said where he comes from, it’s an eye for an eye; Benjamin took something from him, so he took something from Benjamin. Washington brought out Shelton Benjamin, and things got tense between the two ECW Superstars. Washington calmed everyone down and referred to Benjamin as “Hootie” again. Benjamin said he’s surprised the Abraham Washington Show hasn’t been cancelled. Benjamin said here in America they have different concepts, like a little something called a TEAM – which means if one wins, so does the other. Sheamus said they had a little culture clash here, saying he came from a long line of Celtic Warriors (people who believe in respect and honor). Benjamin said he did a little research on Sheamus’ family, and was surprised at what he found in his family background. Benjamin showed some pictures of Ronald McDonals, Wendy (from the Restaurant), Pipi Longstocking, Grandpa Bozo, and comedian Carrottop. Sheamus went nose-to-nose with Benjamin and they exchanged words. Atlas yelled for Benjamin to stop, and Benjamin turned his back. Suddenly Sheamus jumped Benjamin and they had to be pulled apart by security.

SINGLES MATCH
Yoshi Tatsu defeated Paul Burchill w/Katie Lea Burchill:

BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
Savannah & Zack Ryder: Savannah pointed out that this was the biggest night in Zack Ryder’s career. Ryder said he makes his opportunities, deserves this opportunities, and earned this opportunity. Ryder said after tonight they can call him ECW champion.

BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
Gregory Helms & Katie Lea Burchill + Paul Burchill: Gregory Helms tried to get a few words from Katie Lea about her match and she got pissed off and yelled at him for trying to get into brother Paul’s head. Paul Burchill attacked Helms from behind and pyt the boots to him!

TAG TEAM SQUASH MATCH
Vladimir Kozlov & Ezekiel Jackson w/William Regal defeated Brandon Young & Dustin Starr:

BACKSTAGE SEGMENT
Goldust + William Regal & Vladimir Kozlov & Ezekiel Jackson: William Regal talked to Goldust about their match on WWE Superstars and Goldust said he was looking forward to it. Regal said the match was a joke, just like the ECW championship match tonight, and just like Goldust. Goldust stepped up to Regal, but Kozlov & Jackson protected Regal. Regal said he’s the only one with the honor to be ECW champion, and on Thursday he’ll give Goldust a little display of that.

ECW CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Christian defeated Zack Ryder to retain the ECW championship: Great match. When it was over, William Regal walked down to the ring to confront ECW champion Christian. Regal said now that this farce of an ECW championship match is over the slate is whiped clean. Regal said it was only a matter of time before he becomes the ECW champion – and put his hand on the belt. Christian took offense to Regal’s hand touching his belt and attacked him, sending Regal scrambling out of the ring and quickly retreating backstage..

---------------------------

1. I really enjoyed the Christian/Ryder match. It was very similar to the one they had on ECW a couple months back and I had it rated about the same at ***1/4 out of the usual five stars. I love how on ECW they give matches like that enough time to tell a story. Ryder kept coming, but Christian's veteran savvy was enough to get him the win.

2. The Abraham Washington Show is usually a miss rather than a hit, but this week it was effective. I don't mind it as a tool to get over a new feud like they did with Sheamus and Benjamin. It makes me want to see some matches between them. Tony Atlas' incessant laughing is funny for maybe five seconds, but after that it gets annoying pretty fast.

3. I like the energy that Yoshi Tatsu displays in the ring. The crowd is into him because he's got great body language and facial expressions. His offense is pretty good too. Does this mean he's going to get a big push? Nah, I doubt it. He'll be a midcard babyface that probably loses more than he wins.

4. I'm still waiting to see Ezekiel Jackson in a match that's more than a basic squash. Now he's squashing people in tag matches with Kozlov. I guess they want to protect him while he grows into being a more polished performer, but I am hoping we see more of him just because I'm curious.

5. Is another Christian vs. Regal match on the horizon? Looks like it. Won't be in the cell, though.
