John Morrison & Mike Mizanin + Fit Finlay & Hornswoggle + The Boogeyman: John Morrison said he was hired to help Oprah lose the weight she gained over the Holidays, and then the Miz teased that he and Morrison bought everybody new cars!!! Not really. Miz & Morrison bragged about their Slammy and World Tag Team gold, and said 2009 would be much of the same. They both gave their ridiculous New Year’s Resolutions, with both of them vowing to win the Royal Rumble. They argued over who would win the Rumble. They then started making jokes about other WWE Superstar resolutions, for the sake of comedy. Morrison picked on Hornswoggle until Hornswoggle came to the ring with Finlay trying to hold him back. Finlay punched Morrison and the MIz attacked Finlay. Miz & Morrison double-teamed Finlay while Hornswoggle jumped out and crawled under the ring. The Miz & Morrison went after him but they found the Boogeyman under the ring! Miz & Morrison quickly retreated and ran away, taunting Hornswoggle from the top of the stage.

Excelente segmento de abertura. Miz e Morrison são realmente fantásticos e a WWE devia abrir os olhos de uma vez e perceber que o futuro da empresa está na aposta em pessoas como eles. Finalmente alguém tem coragem para criticar o Marine e as capacidades de actuação de Cena. O resto foi o habitual "build-up" para o Main Event.

(ECW WORLD TITLE)
SINGLES MATCH
Mark Henry w/Tony Atlas defeated ECW World champion Matt Hardy by DQ: The match ended in a disqualification after interference from #1 Contender Jack Swagger. Mark Henry was not happy that Swagger ruined his opportunity to recapture the ECW World title!

Citação :

Hardy e Henry já fizeram melhor, mas claramente este era apenas um combate de rotina, pensado principalmente para que as pessoas não se esquecessem que Jack Swagger ainda é o candidato principal ao título da ECW.

VIGNETTE: Kizarny is coming to SmackDown!..


SINGLES MATCH
DJ Gabriel w/Alicia Fox defeated “The Ripper” Paul Burchill w/Katie Lea: A couple of British guys in an ECW ring. Paul Burchill & Katie Lea are now members of the ECW roster. I guess that means they will waste Katie Lea’s talents throughout 2009 as well.

Pois é, parece que Paul Burchill e Katie Lea estão em definitivo na ECW. Para Burchill esta pode ser uma excelente notícia. Para Katie nem por isso, se bem que no RAW o talento dela também não estava a ser convenientemente aproveitado. Bom combate entre os dois britânicos, que no entanto sabem fazer bem melhor. Estou a começar a gostar das danças da Alicia...

BACKSTAGE SEGMENT
The Boogeyman + Hornswoggle: The Boogeyman was shown singing “Rockabye baby, on the tree top” to a nightcrawler when Hornswoggle came in and ran in circles around the Boogeyman. Boogeyman started singing “La La lala laala” like the Smurfs.


NO-DQ TAG TEAM MATCH
World Tag Team champions John Morrison & Mike Mizanin defeated The Boogeyman & Fit Finlay w/Hornswoggle: You’re not supposed to remember that Finlay and Boogeyman feuded for the first six months of 2007, in a storyline which included a Little Boogeyman feuding with Hornswoggle. After the match, the Boogeyman attacked the Miz and Finlay planted Morrison with his finisher. When the dust cleared, Finlay brought three kids into the ring to dance with Hornswoggle.

Como se previa, Finlay teve de carregar o combate pela sua equipa. Aliás, Boogeyman nem sequer chegou a entrar. Miz e Morrison são justos vencedores e a WWE acaba 2008 com um bando de miúdos a correr atrás de um anão no ringue, reflexo perfeito do seu posicionamento durante o ano.
